Summary

In 1897, an explorer named Robert Peary went to Greenland and took six Eskimos from their home. He took them to New York City to be put on display in the American Museum of Natural History. Two of these six Eskimos was a boy named Minik and his father. Four out of the six Eskimos died soon after they arrived. One of the ones that died was Minik’s father and without Minik knowing his father’s bones were put on display. After that there were only two left at the museum. Finally Minik was the only one left because the other Eskimo left to go back to Greenland. Minik was the only Eskimo in New York City for twelve years. This story is about Minik and the price of exploration.
