I, Coriander
by Sally Gardner
"Deft and dulcet language, a cast of supporters not the least of whom is Coriander's loving stepsister Hester, and the tie to a grim historical season will hold readers fast."

Dear Reader,
Welcome!!! I, Coriander is a captivating book, that has a great plot and reflects the struggles of a young girl who lives in Puritan England during the time of the British Revolution. Normally, we know that most people don't like to read books based on history, but because of its plot, magic based theme, and characters like Hester, Tycho, and Coriander herself, it is actually interesting book to read. There is a lot of information about the time period hidden in the plot, especially about Puritan society and expectations. If you have chosen to read I, Coriander for a summer reading book, you should know that it is a fairy tale, but has lots of interesting, historical components. Coriander is a girl living in England, whose mother dies and a whole other world unfurls. It is a great book, and has a captivating plot line. The book is set in the period of the British Civil War, and mentions Oliver Cromwell, and King Charles the First. The main character also has a huge struggle with out Puritanism and fairies. Though some parts aren't historically accurate, such as the Black Plague, you might want to find out more of what was happening during the time period.
Read the book if you want to find out how this relates to the story.

WARNING!!!
Though we don't like to say it, this book is written in a teenage girl's perspective, so we doubt that many guys will want to read this. If you do, feel free but as a warning, there will be sections that you won't appreciate. We encourage people who don't want to read any romance, to read The Lighting Thief, which has much more action.
